Introduction to Reuters Market Data Management Services

Financial institutions require access to real-time market data, including currency exchange rates and interest rates, to effectively facilitate transactions involving foreign currencies and interest rates. This information must be available at designated intervals to support accurate and efficient transaction processing.

The Reuters Data Scope interface functions as the intermediary between financial institutions and the Reuters data scope, facilitating the provision of real-time exchange rates and interest rates. To obtain market price data in real time, a request file is submitted to the Reuters interface, which includes a list of relevant RIC (Reuters Instrument Code) Ids. Subsequently, the incoming response file is processed to update the market data accordingly.

This interface acts as a middle layer between Temenos Transact and Reuters Datascope server for sending request files from the Temenos Transact system and then, receiving and processing raw data files sent as a response to the request file. Based on the response file, the interface will process the file and upload the price details in Temenos Transact applications.

The request messages from Temenos Transact host to Reuter’s server will be in XML format, whereas the response file with price updates from Reuters will be in comma-separated value (CSV) file format.
